Hurricane Tomas Damage Reports - Barbados

This sthread is for reports of how Barbados was affected by Hurricane Tomas.

Barbados was one of the first major cruise destinations to be hit by Tomas as he moved through the Windward Islands

Searching for reports about Barbados ... the only two things I saw were:

    - The phrase 'widesperead damage on Barbados" which couldl mean just about anything

    - A radio station on Barbados was able to boost its output to get a signal to St Lucia, which was SO hard hit that their radio stations were completely out.

    It really looks bad.
We are on the NCL Dawn 11-5 sailing. It is scheduled to be in Barbados on 11-10. A lot of cleanup needs to be done for us to actually make this port.

John, thanks for the site. Lots of information there.

You're due to cruise out of Barbados next month if I remember correctly.

Hanna & EASYTRAVEL are scheduled for a port stop there this month on Grand Princess.

Have any cruise lines announced any schedule changes because of Tomas?

I haven't seen any LuLu. I think it's too soon for them to have assessed the damage ... not enough information yet to make those decisions.

AND THAT...dear readers, was a tropical storm, heaven knows what it must have been like to have been in something like Ivan that decimated Grenada or Katrina. The Catamaran "Heatwave" has been wrecked as well as lots of stuff.
But as I have said elsewhere we should take this in context, there are millions still homeless in Pakistan, the Haiti thing is a true humanitarian disaster, with Cholera too.

Grand Princess & Sea Princess were scheduled to be there TODAY. Other ships later in the week are as well.

Some quick decisions will have to be made immediately.

I'm sure they are making decisions but there are no updates on the Princess web site at this time.
