Crane Beach

MY DH and I want to spend our day on Barbados at Crane Beach. We have done our research and discovered there is a price, but that price can be applied to lunch on the terrace. Can't think of a more romantic place to spend our 30th anniversary day.

So, I understand we have 3 options for getting to the south end of the island:
  • rent a car
  • take the bus
  • take a taxi
Of these, the third seems the least hassle. but how do we get back? Can we ask the cab to return at a specific time?

How long should we allow for a safe return? Wouldn't do to miss the boat...

Anybody else been there, done that?

There should be taxis readily available at the crane. You can also arrange with your driver to come back for you I am sure they will be more than happy to acommodate you.

Enjoy your visit

Make sure you get your drivers name if he's coming back for you. I had an incident last year and almost went to jail. We took a van to Monkey Beach and there were about 8 of us in the van but we were a party of 4. It looked like rain so and the other people didn't want to be picked up until 3 and I didn't want to be out that long so I said to the driver I would prefer to just pay for our way here and we will worry about getting back. We paid and went on our way. When we went to leave the dispatcher would not let us go insisting that we had not paid for the van. We said we had paid and he insisted we did not. It got so bad yelling and screaming because when I tried to step outside he actually pulled me back in and I almost lost my mind at that point. I said please get me a cop because this is not going to be pretty. At that point a very nice van driver came over and said get in my van and I will take you. They were yelling at him for taking us. He told me he felt like I was telling the truth. I said why would I spend thousands on a vacation and try to gyp someone out of $20. He was so nice. He told us the ride was free of charge but of course, I paid him handsomely for 'rescuing' us. I have done this before and never had a problem. It was only because I wouldn't wait for that driver.

P.S. - As we were going a van pulled up and started screaming at us that we were skipping out on him and my husband said that wasn't even our driver.

Wink CRANE -the view from up top..

.

Not a great place for a swim -unless it's unusually calm,on Your Day
but a scenic beach from the hotel, where you can have lunch overlooking what you see here..

Most people just dabble in the surf..
but if you're a strong swimmer and can identify a special spot where you can get out just beyond the breakers
you'll have a great time swimming in that clear liquid turquoise -and be the envy of the others who can't make it!
