Hi Joey,
We were in Barbados 4/25-5/1 this year and while there went on a tour with Glory Tours. It was wonderful! Our guide was Quammie :-) Loved him! We did the full day Natural Wonders option 2 tour which was about $100 per person and so worth it. On a one day cruise stop there wouldn't be time to do that one but they do offer 1/2 day tours as well. I booked online ahead of time and once there contacted Sarah for a pickup time and location but of course we weren't at the cruise port dock. They were right on time to pick us up at our villa and delivered us back at the end of the day. I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed this tour. Here's a few pictures of some of the things we saw on that day. Barbados is a beautiful place for sure.
Earthworks Pottery and just up the hill a great Batik studio where I bought a beautiful Batik print. I love the pottery here. I had bought one piece when we were there on a cruise last year and needed more, lol. This is the actual factory where the pottery is made but at the cruise terminal they have an actual store where you can buy it also. It was interesting to go to the factory. I even found a kitty cat sleeping in a large bowl. Boy, did that make me miss my cats!
Then, it was on to the Flower Forest which if I remember right is called Andromeda Gardens...kinda confusing but it was very pretty and relaxing. As with each stop we were given plenty of time to wander around and take it all in.
After this we drove over to the east coast of the island to Bathsheba! Talk about stunning scenery, wow! We also stopped for lunch (included in the price) at at place called Sand Dunes near here. We had our choice of chicken or fish and a couple of sides and it was all delicious.
Lunch and some of the other folks in our tour group. All were staying on the island and were a nice bunch to spend the day with. The lady in the 2nd picture, with the dark hair was also on the cruise back to Ft. Lauderdale with us so we had a few more chances to talk with her and her husband.
Ok, so after lunch we headed to Harrison's Cave. I know people rave about it but honestly we have prettier and more interesting caves here in the midwest but it was a nice way to cool down at least. It was hot, hot, hot in Barbados while we were there. The first picture is of their new facility there which is very, very nice. They take you through the cave on the little tram thingy.
And last but not least we headed off to the wildlife preserve. I love animals so this was a highlight for me. Feeding the wild monkeys was definitely a memory to last me a lifetime and I loved it. Many of them had babies clinging to them and it was so cute. There were hundreds of tortoises, little deer like animals, peacocks, etc.
In addition to all of the above there were several scenic stops throughout the day where we could take pictures, etc. It was truly a wonderful day and Quammie was a great host and driver for the day. He never stopped talking and telling us all about his island. It is obvious he loves it there and loves his job. Can't recommend them enough.
