Wow what a great link to a great beach. I have narrowed my day so far in Barbados to visiting the Harrison Caves and then off to the boatyard. Hopefully we'll see the town on the way to the caves and to the beach.
Hello from California
We've always enjoyed (per this thread) The Boatyard for a fun time at the beach!
For sure you'll see a bit of town on your way back from Boatyard to the ship!![]()

Here's some good information from the site that is referenced above:
Cruise Info for Website
How far is The Boatyard from the cruise Terminal?
The Boatyard is about 3 - 5 mins drive depending on traffic. There is a Taxi stand outside of the cruise Terminal. If you choose to walk, it is about 15 - 20 mins depending on your pace.
How much for a Taxi?
Taxi fares are regulated by the Barbados Government and are pre-set to where your final destination will be, meaning all the Taxis should quote you the same fare. The taxi rate to The Boatyard from the Cruise Terminal is US$3.00 one-way. When you enter the Boatyard, included is your return transportation to the Cruise Terminal, leaving approx at 1:00pm at 15 mins intervals.
How are the waves at this beach? My husband is one who loves to body surf.

Natually, like everyplace, some days there are more waves than others. There are real waves with "breakers". Not so sure anyone who is really into body surfing would enjoy because the "breakers" are fairly close to the shore so it would be a very short ride. On the other hand ... it's wavy but gentle beyond the "breakers" for those of us who like to play and float around in the water.
Your DH could swing off the rope from the pier into the water at high tide! (Like on Jolly Roger) That's LOTS OF FUN!![]()

Is there shops on the way to the boatyard from the ship. Could we shop on the way there or back from the beach to the cruise ship?![]()
Hello from California
You MUST (not an option) pass through the shops at the cruise ship terminal to get out. You'll have the opportunity for all the shopping you wish... and then some ....![]()

As promised, bumping this up.
While it hasn't been updated from later visits because there has really been nothing new to add... Boatyard has been around for a long time and the info remains basically the same.
Post #11 (kindly provided by canarymoon ... Sheila) of this thread has the current Boatyard wedsite.
Don't hesitate to ask if you have any other questions. Also, all comments from others who have been to Boatyard are welcomed!![]()
