We've booked the Harrison's Cave excursion in Barbados for October. I've heard it's going to close for renovations but don't know when. Have any of you been there recently or heard anything about this?

Hi Redlyn,

The caves are currently closed for renovations...they closed in July and are not expected to reopen before next year.

While the caves are very nice, I am sure you will fin alot of other beautiful sites to visit.

Glad I just happened to see this thread.

It has been years since we visisted Harrison's Caves.

We have a cruise next March where we visit Barbados.

Hope it is re-opened by then.

Thanks Keith. I'm a bit disappointed since I was looking forward to visiting the cave but maybe next time. I pre-booked it with HAL and just contacted them about the closure; they said the excursion is still on. Apparently they'll wait til we're onboard to let us know it's cancelled and by then it would be too late to book something else. I'm glad I'm ahead of the game by visiting this board!!

I am not surprised that HAL is not aware of it. It has been an on again...off again closure for a couple of years now. It was acutally only officially confirmed this past June so that maybe the reason. Then again with Harrison's Cave you never know

I'd appreciate that, Keith. ... I did send an e-mail to the marketing manager at Harrison's Cave but haven't heard from him... I don't think I'd better cancel just in case it is open.

Good Idea, it is so on again off again that I believe that is the best way to go. I will try to touch base with them today. Even if they say its closed I would still keep my booking if I were u...such is the nature of the Harrisons Cave Conundrum

The caves are closed. I called them yesterday and again this morning to confirm when they will open back but no one was able to give me anything specific.

Lets hope that they will reopen before October

Well it's official... I just got an e-mail from HAL saying that the cave is closed through Winter 2007 and issuing a refund for the excursion. Too bad... I was really looking forward to it.
