    Private Islands: Good or Bad?

Do you like stopping at the cruise lines private islands? Or would you rather have a port stop at another port instead?

The private islands are a nice getaway relaxing beach day. Its the reason you go on vacation, to relax and unwind.

But going to a private island, you lack the culture and ambiance of being at a port of call. Part of cruising is going to new and exciting destinations.

    What do you guys think?

Any particular private islands you just love?

Princess Cays is awesome!! There is something for everyone!! When you get off the tender, take a left, the beach is busy, take a right it is quiet!! Beach sports, water sports, Picnic tables, hammocks, and building with porches and rocking chairs!! The BBQ lunch is to die for!! Shopping too!!And a childrens play area, with staff to watch them!!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

    playing devils advoate here....

if you're not a beach person at all and go on vacation to explore... see new places, learn new cultures.. then a cruise with a stop at a private island isn't really the thing for me?

I don't do the beach or the water, and I just walk around to see all the sights do some shopping, they have a Princess store there, and the locals sell their handmade stuff, very nice and not pushy, and watch all the passengers having a wonderful time!! I have lunch, rock on a porch, and then go back to the Ship!! Love it!!

I love Coco Cay. But I'm definately a beach person. Love to sit in a chair, read a book and relax while enjoying some of the most scenic beauty I've ever seen. If you aren't a beach person, I can understand the lack of appeal for the private islands. A day on the ship when everyone else is gone is nice too.

I absolutely loved Half Moon Cay!

We've traveled to so many places around the world, but my mom often says that one of the most beautiful places we've ever been is HMC

HAL's private Island, HMC, is close to paradise!!!

It has the softest white sand, and the most beautiful half moon shaped beach. Although there are charges to use the aquatrax or kayaking, you could easily visit HMC and never spend a cent!!
    You get a fantastic barbeque,
a great beach, plenty of lounge chairs, all at no additional cost!!
I don't see how 'they' are fleecing us, JMHO!
