Usually your cruise is going farther afield to the Caribbean or further, am I one of the few that has had no problems with the two visits I have had to Nassau. The Bahamas are the same as most Caribbean islands, a mixture of the very poor and the super-rich. It is seeing more of the poor I believe that put people off.

I would definitely visit again, different to Guadeloupe; I never wish to see again.

To swim with the dolphins again. Or cause it's part of the itinerary. We're going back to St Thomas on next cruise and been there 3x's and have no desire to see it again, but love the rest of the itinerary, sooo...

Norman, totally agree with you on Guadeloupe -- horrible place and the most unfriendly people! If we're ever on a ship with a port stop there, we'll stay on the ship!

Because every ship seems to stop there?

I went to the Bahamas twice on cruises and enjoyed Nassau both times. From the Atlantis, to the Pirate museum, the tour of the city, the Zoo etc., we enjoyed our visit there. It was part of the itinerary of the bahama cruises which was not a choice so I voted other. It was the middle stop as Florida, private island were before and freeport was after. The convenient ports of NY and Baltimore and reasonable prices also helped decide to go there.

At one time that was absolutely true! Any time you were on a ship out of Miami or Ft. Lauderdale going to the East/West/South Caribbean, a port stop in Nassau was highly likely.

Now, having so many private islands where ships often go instead of Nasssau has helped!
