    What to do in Nassau???

What should my dad and I do when we're in Nassau for our cruise?

We're in port from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

In Nassau, you can swim with the sting rays! You can do it through the ship's excursion desk, but since you will be there all day, you could also do it on your own. There are several companies I saw on Google that offer this, and you can check Trip Advisor for recommendations - but hopefully someone who has done this will chime in soon.

Some people take a tour of Atlantis, the resort, but it can get pretty crowded.

You could also make this a beach day; it will depend on where else your ship goes whether you want to do this.

Well without knowing what you like to do, its still going to get dark early so for outside activities so you have until the sunset for the most part.

Well I'm not sure how to say what we like to do at the moment, but we're active and like energetic things I guess.

When we were in Nassau on the Carnival Destiny last month we went to Atlantis and then took a 1/2 hour horse-drawn carriage tour of town. Atlantis was wonderfu (for only $39 each for a day pass)l, with hardly anyone there (there were only 3 ships in that day). You can see my photojournal of the day at The ExploreNorth Blog » Exploring Nassau, Bahamas

My wife and I just returned from a cruise to Nassau and really enjoyed the tour that we took. It was done online through a private company, not through Royal Carribean. We were picked up just steps from where you walk onto the street. We were taken all around Nassau by a very nice Native named Joe in a taxi Van. Very comfortable and we were the only couple although sometimes he said he might take 2 or 3 couples at a time. Joe showed us Nassau from a very different perspective than we expected. We went to Fort Fincastle, Queens Staircase, The Atlantis on Paradise island, etc.. Joe gave lots of information as we traveled through the city and was extremely knowledgable. After the tour, you go to the fish fry, a spot where there are several small cafe's and pubs where you get to sample real local food that the locals there eat. Our guide Joe even agreed to eat with us (after a little coaxing), all the while sharing information and helping us to order. A had a native brew (kalik) as well as grouper, peas and rice, fried plantains, and conch fritters. All very good!
We feel like we were able to get a locals perspective of the area and never would have seen what we saw or learned what we did on our own. Did you know that it is against the law for Bahamians to gamble at the Atlantis casino? Neither did we until he told us this , like I said, it was a great experience and the next time we go back, I will be looking into a more in-depth tour with Joe.

Oh, the cost.....$30 each for a three hour tour including $5 in food. A real bargain imo.

Is there any Private Tour operators you'd recommend? We'd enjoy Swimming, Snorkeling...maybe a Glass Bottom Tour.

If I remember correctly swimming , snorkeling, and glass bottom boat tours are all available through RCCL while you are are on Coco Cay, their private island. I think that would be a nice place to do that sort of stuff.

We had a similar experience with our guide "Big T". I loved the local perspective of things. "Notice those houses on the shore? They are all owned by visitors. The natives refuse to buy them since they know that they are going to flood even in a moderate hurricane....."
