Question What else is at Nassau?

Being less than two hours away from Jacksonville, I wondered if I would like one day at the Bahamas just to embark and debark in that port. The only problem is having nothing to do. Is Atlantis the only attraction or does it have aquariums, gardens, museums, or mansions to visit? I like to walk on beaches too, but never spend a whole day at one or swim with marine animals.

We have seen the flamingo attraction, had a bus tour around the city (walking tours are also possible from the dept. of the ministry, I think), forts to explore, and lots of beaches. There is also an interesting water taxi.

Change of plan: If I go to the Bahamas, it will be on RCI because it needs to be a good ship. What would prevent me from sailing? Not liking the Monarch.

Now it is definite: Carnival Sensation out of Port Canaveral or no Bahamas cruise. I expect to go there between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Do I have to be an Atlantis guest to buy a waterpark ticket during the offseason?

Are cruise passengers allowed to swim with the dolphins?

Because my Bahamas cruise probably will be after Halloween, a land tour of Paradise Island seems to make more sense than an Atlantis waterpark day pass. But looking at the Atlantis website, I can't resist thinking I should fly back just to book an Atlantis room and get free access to the waterpark. Is Nassau an embarkation port for some cruises?

I read on a Paradise Island website many land attractions I might be interested in are in Providence. Is that part of Nassau or near it on the same island?
