    What a beautiful place

I've been to the Bahamas a few times, and let me tell you this is a great place.

From the nice people to the clear water to the white sandy beaches. MMM Paradise.

I think I've been to the Bahamas but I don't remember it. Hmm.

The Bahamas is where we went on our cruise. It was great, but beware of the hair braiding. My wife heard one of the women while we were off the ship shopping offering hair braids for $2 dollars. My wife understood it as $2.00 for the entire thing, and it cost me $2.00 per braid when I showed back up to pay. She had over 40 braids on one side of her head.

Bought some Banana Rum. A couple bottles for me, and a bottle for a friend. After drinking my two bottles, I decided to keep the 3rd as well. If you like rum, you MUST find your way to the stores in NASSAU and sample a little of all the flavors.

I rarely get off the ship in Nassau any more... unless it is to snorkel.

If yoiu are sailing RCL or X, though, don't miss CocoCay, the cruiseline's private island. It truly is a little slice of paradise.

I found Grand Bahama Island better than Nassau. Fewer people, and the waters off the island are much better for snorkelling.

Nassau is home to the Ardastra Gardens. Your cruise ship probably offers a tour of Nassau which will include these gardens, but you can take a cab there on your own if you wish. This will give you more time to stay at the places you are most interested in.

    From their website:

Ardastra Gardens, Zoo and Conservation Center has an indefinable charm and personal touch. There is a tranquility here that cannot be bought or manufactured.

Lose yourself along twisting trails, draped with mosses and vines and lined with spectacular trees from 60-foot banyans to bananas. Admire the awesome canopy with its succulent mangos, sapodillas and breadfruit. Meander alongside the network of canals and natural ponds. You may spot a skulking wild heron or a bashful bullfrog while watching hovering hummingbirds feed on hibiscus nectar.

This hidden jewel is situated only a few minutes drive from downtown Nassau.

The zoo is open 7 days a week from 9am to 5pm, with our famous marching flamingo shows at 10.30am, 2.10pm and 4.10pm daily and Lory parrot feedings at 11:00am, 1:30pm and 3:30pm daily. Admission is $12.00 for adults and $6.00 for children 4-12 years of age. Children three and under are free. Resident Rates and group rates are available – Ardastra Gardens will leave you with memories that will last forever.

    ------------------------------------------------

I'm not sure if the tours will include a Lory Parrot feeding or a flamingo show; you will need to ask the people at the excursions desk.
