Finalizing Freeport Details - Cruise Line Fans: Cruise Forum, Reviews and Chat From Real Cruisers

I am trying to work out the details of my trip that I am leaving for in two weeks (yay!) and I would like input from those who have experience in Freeport. After reading through the (many) threads and posts on the Bahamas I found that I would LOVE to go to Gold Rock Beach and maybe the caverns across the street from there. I know that it is a little way from the port and from what I have read I will need a taxi or rent a car. I am really looking to find out how much this would cost. Does anyone have recommendations on who to use for taxi service because I am not really looking to drive myself? Would I be able to find a taxi at the port and negotiate the trip or is it better to set it up ahead of time?

We are supposed to dock at 9am and be there until 5pm. I looked at different excursions offered through independent agents there, but most leave at 9am so I will not be able to make it on time. It will just be 2 of us more than likely (4 at the most). I have checked high tide and we will have a few hours on the beach before high tide hits if we get there between 10 and 11am. If this is just not feasible, I am going to have a back up plan to just hit Our Lucaya, which I have heard is nice and not too far to get to by taxi.

I also am looking to get my passport stamped. I have found where to go to get it stamped in Nassau but have not been able to find info on Freeport (even by googling it). Any help with this info would also be appreciated.

taxi shouldn't cost you more than $25 each way. try tu get a shared cab if you can.
if you go to lucaya, take shared cab $5 each way. find sheraton hotel , hit the beach there. i can personally recomend this . white sand, turquoise water.this is a good beach.

Thank you for the suggestion. I will probably use this as my back up if what I really want to do doesn't pan out. Really that is all I want. A really pretty white beach with beautiful waters that is not too crowded. I will let you know how it goes
