    Christmas Cruise to the Bahamas

We are planning on taking a cruise to the Bahamas that leaves the day after Christmas. We have stops in Nassau and Half Moon Cay. The weather says it should be around 80 degrees there, but just wanted to see if anyone else has been there around that time of year. Was it nice enough to lie on the beach and soak up the sun? Will the water be too cold for the kids to play in it? Has anyone been to Half Moon Cay? Thanks in advance!!

We were just there last year (December 13-20) and while the air temperature was wonderful, the water temperature was a little cooler than I like. My wife swam for quite a while, so it's warm enough to swim in, especially for the kids. But I would have preferred it to be a little warmer.

But yes, you can get a nasty sunburn down there at that time of year, as many on our ship found out the hard way. So be prepared!

Oh good- thanks!! I just want it to be warm enough to lay on the beach without feeling "cold". My 9 year old would swim in ice water, so I think it would be fine for him!!

I was actually in Cozumel one year watching the Super Bowl! During halftime, I went swimming in the sea. Luckily, I didn't have any wardrobe malfunction!! But it was warm and the water was very nice.

We've done both the Christmas and the New Years bahamas cruises, and they were really nice.
The weather was OK (I'm a true Floridian, so the nnortherners thought it was really warm, but it was just OK for me.)
The water was cool, but plenty of people got in.

Sun and water aside, the holidays are an absolutely magical time of year to cruise. The ships are all decked out in holiday dress, and everyone is in a very festive mood. It's just quite special.
