We talked to a couple TA and found one that we liked, we are going on a 4 night Royal Caribbean cruise Sept 8 . to the Bahamas on The Sovereign of the Seas....
So as I said before, we are four single guys in our eary 20s , just wanting to have fun, and meet girls. We have never cruised before.
So tell me your stories! What to do, what not to do, and what to expect....and what should we do on the islands?
oh, man - I just LOVE the Sovereign!!! (Look at my sig to see just how MUCH I love that ship!)
BIG wnat NOT to do: don't call the Sovereign a "Boat" in front of the captain.
It's a SHIP. Those little things hanging off the side are boats.
What do you like to do?
Are you adventurous? You can swim with the StingRays in Nassau.
Do you want to see the sights? There are ship sponsored tours, and the ever-present horse drawn carriages for hire on the street.
Nassau also has its share of places to grab a cold one and let your hair down.
Coco Cay (the cruiseline's private island) is going to give you one of THE best beach days ever! You can choose to just soak up the sun, participate in a volley ball touornament, kayak around the island, or soar high above on a parasail. The water there is GE-OH-Gorgeous!
CocoCay is a VERY special place. A while back, I wrote up a little summary about it and what there is to do there, complete with photo links.
Understand that I'm no pro with a camera, but you can still get an idea about the place from my pictures.
Snorkeling is amazing . . . there is a whole new world under that water, and it's utterly fascinating!
If you snorkel in Nassau, get one of the 'smaller' excursiono boats (yes, these aRE boats), not one of the party barges. The barty barges are made for partying... when they use them for snorkel excursions, you end up feeling like part of a heard of cattle!
Oh WOW!Canarymoon! I just looked at your Pics read you reveiw Snorkeling looks awesome! I`ve never done it, but deff want to now! Which island should I do this on?
Also what will the weather be like in Sept?
I just know ya`ll are gonna get sick of all my questins!
Weather -
You are sailing in peak hurricane season, so there are two possibilities - the weather will be either beautiful or dreadful!
Odds are with you that it will be beautiful, but just be prepared that the other is a possibility.
Barring a tropical system, it will be plenty warm enough to swim, snorkel, and enjoy other water activities.
DO leave youself some 'padding' in your schedule, though. IF there were a hurricane threatening the Port, the ship might leave early, and you don't want to get left behind.
Once again, chances are this won't happen, but it could!
When you first board, you won't have anything except your carry-on. Your bags may not arrive at your stateroom for several hours. Take a small carry-on with your swim suit in it so you can enjoy the pool right away. It will be open.
Also, you'll want to go up to deck 11 to the Windjammer cafeteria to get your first meal of the cruise.
Also for your carryon: Any meds you need; a clean shirt and a pair of slacks for dinner, in case your bags don't arrive until later.
