Nassau Snorkel Excursions

I've done three different excursions offered by RCL in Nassau:
1) Stingray Snorkel & Beach Break
2) Rainbow Reef Snorkeling
3) Seahorse Sailing & Snorkel
If anyone would like comments or has specific questions on any of these, please feel free to ask.

Of the three which did you llike the best?

Also ... What time of year did you do these? On cruises we've mostly been to Nassau in January & February. The water was just a bit too chilly for us.

Here they are, ordered by which one I liked best and why:

#1 Sting Ray Snorkel and Beach Break. First, I am really fascinated with these creatures, and second, in Nassau, you do get to SWIM with them, as opposed to standing around on a sandbar anong them like in the Caymans. These are captive rays, and have been debarbed.

#2 Seahorse Sail and Snorkel. This one uses a catamaran and goes to the same place as the rainbow reef one, but it's not as crowded, and the ambience of the catamaran is a plus.

#3 Rainbow Reef Snorkel takes a much larger group than my #2 choice, and is qjust too crowded, IMO.

Time of Year:
I've done the Stingray Swim in January and November, the Seahorse Sail in the Summer and Fall, and Rainbow reef in December. Yes, the water is cold in Dec-Feb, but if you just plunge in, it's really bearable... maybe not for the day, but for 45 minutes or so.

CANARYMOON .... Thanks so much for your wonderful description of each of these. Really should be a HUGE help to many ... especially snorkelers!!

One year in Nassau we took The YELLOW BIRD Catamaran. It was a Party Boat sort of thing which we like. Great time! No need to get wet and the beach (even in January) was fine for sunning!

You're very welcome.
I think lots of people are unaware that we have this forum, so hope this helps to point some avid snorkelers / divers in that direction.

PLEASE Feel free to post there if you find anything interesting while you are researching.

Angelfish -
That website is a great resource for those of us who cruise to the Bahamas. We are always looking for something else to do there.

I am going to check, and if it isn't already there, I'm going to add that website to our Cruise Resources area.
