Hope, are any of the major attractions in Sydney closed on Sunday? How about tours from Sydney to Hunter Valley? Would the vineyards be open Sundays and are there any alcohol purchase restrictions on Sundays?

    Hi Susan,

You won't have any trouble with Sunday trading. All major tourist attractions are open. You may notice limited shopping hours in the main CBD eg. more like 10am to 5pm, but pretty much everything else runs as normal. The Hunter Valley I spoke about earlier does not run on a Sunday, however there are other companies that do run on a Sunday and there is not limitation to purchases of alcohol (I think riots would possibly occur if this was attempted :-). The Hunter Valley is a very popular region for Sydney siders to escape for the weekend so all the wineries are open.

I just want to thank this forum for encouraging tour companies to be members, unlike a different forum we could name. When we did our Mexican Riviera cruise, Mazatlan Frank was on here to help us arrange an awesome tour! He wasn't allowed to have his website on the other site. In fact, I have a share site (Shutterfly) for Packer Player cruises, mostly, and they took off the link because it advertised the upcoming cruise.

I said all that to say, we would not have known about Hope and Shoretours.com, if not for this forum and her interest in it. Australia is a once in a lifetime cruise and it is hectic enough figuring out what to do on the cruise, although we have been on enough cruises that this is second nature, but how are we supposed to know what to do our 3 days in Sydney? Hope took care of all that and arrange all our transfers, as well! No worrys, mate (Do they really say that down there?)!

Jeff, isn't it great? Cruiselinefans is awesome if a bit small. We really could use more members like you and like Hope. Thanks for being part of our community, we truly appreciate it.

As most of you know, Lynette and I were gone in March for a trip to Australia. For anyone hoping for a koala bear, sorry, they wouldn’t let us take them out of the country. Hope you enjoy the pictures!

We left March 1, the day after a 15” snowstorm. Somebody stole all of our snow while we were gone. Still investigating that. We drove to Green Bay and flew to LA, where we stayed overnight and got to see daughter Mindy and her husband Don before flying to Sydney the next day. Flying is the greatest deterrent to ever doing it again. 13 1/2 hrs for that part alone and then 3 1/2 to Perth. We did not get a March 3. Talk about confusing. No major problems, though, except that the handle got broken on one of our pieces of luggage. However, it was 104 degrees in Perth! Hot, hot, hot! The one day we were there, it was a holiday, so most shops and restaurants were closed. Very expensive eating breakfast at the hotel, which we actually did at the hotel across the street from ours as they had a better buffet. We stayed at the Perth Ambassador, which was okay but had nothing to really recommend it. Hotel.com said that there was free wi-fi in the rooms, but there was not wi-fi at all. The kiosk charge was $2 for 15 minutes on the internet and the one that they had was out of service anyway. We did manage to get some pictures, however. The pictures are from King's Park in Perth. We booked this through Hope at Shoretours.com.au. The hot weather was not her fault!
