Sydney and Melbourne may be more familiar names to travellers, but South Australia's capital would give both of the cities a run for their money.
Explore the wide boulevards, gardens, museums and cafés or shopping experiences of Rundle Mall or the Adelaide Central Market - where Adelaide's diverse cultural history mix together into an exciting clash of cuisines. If you need something to wash the food down, take a trip to the National Wine Centre where the best of South Australian wines are to be enjoyed.
For the historians amongst you, stroll along North Terrace, where you can learn about South Australia's European roots from the commemorative plaques that line the street in honour of the many men and women who have contributed to the State's success.
If you want to learn more, there are the South Australian Museum, State Library, Town Hall and Migration Museum nearby, or make the journey to Port Adelaide, a heritage area that boasts some of the country's most historic buildings.
If shopping isn't for you, catch a tram to the popular sandy beach resort of Glenelg where you might get the chance to swim with dolphins with Temptation Sailing, the first yacht in SA to get a dolphin swim licence, or take a boat trip around the beautiful Le Fevre Peninsula.
And if you thought Adelaide couldn't possibly offer anything more, don't forget to drop in and see two of its more unusual residents - Giant Pandas Wang-Wang and Funi - at Adelaide Zoo, right next to the luscious Botanical Gardens.
