I try to persuade people not to go on the three and four day cruises. You really need a full week to savor the ambiance of a cruise ship. With the two and three days trips you might as well be in a moving hotel.

My wife loves cruising since she can unpack the first day and start her nesting which she cannot do with most of our hotel stays so this is a bit "to do" for me.

After going on a 15-day cruise, my hubby says he can't see going on a seven day cruise (or less) again. The Aussie-NZ cruises on Princess are 12-day, except the one that's the holiday cruise later this year is 13 days (Philips Island has been included). The big thing for us would be the airfare (would be much more than the cruise unless there's a holiday special, which I doubt) and the actual flight (I'm not a good flier). So maybe this cruise would be five or more years away for us.

She's just got this weird idea that she'd get claustrophobic or something. I told her there's no way but she thinks a couple of days to start with would be better.

There are a few cruiselines doing a couple of days cruises to nowhere and I never ever say no to a cruise

I know exactly what you mean our airfare to London has really added to the cost of our cruise this time. (About AUD$2,600 - US$1,700 each)

In the weekend paper a new airline Asia X (low cost) has just start flight from Australia to London via Kuala Lumpur for only AUD$1,000. You have to pay for all food, drink and luggage on top of that. But thats still incredibly cheap.

Hopefully my next few cruises will be out of Fremantle so no airfares required

Know the feeling. For us to cruise Europe we have to almost double the price since my wife can't fly coach (bad back and the lack of movement on a cramped coach seat would put her in pain for a month) And unfortunately everything I see of Cunard that is round trip is round trip FROM England not TO

We live 50 miles away from the Port of Los Angeles. So the majority of our cruises have been from there. Unfortunately there's a limited number of itineraries from there at the times of year we can go (due to our girl's school schedule; can't leave her behind). There's the Mexican Riviera, which we've done twice and Baja California (Ensenada, sometimes Catalina Island) that we've done a few times. And Hawaii, which was our last cruise, and I hope to do again in a couple of years. There's cruises that go up to Alaska, but that's just in early May to reposition the ships to up north.
