Ah, Julie! What a picture you paint with your words! Makes me want to get on a plane and wing my way over the Pacific to see your lovely Freemantle.

Alas, like canarymoon, it's just wishful thinking. At our age it's too far to travel .....unless we win the lottery and can sail from the US and back on an around the world cruise.

Thank you for all this great information.
I have been to quiet a few places in Australia (Sydney, Melbourne, Fremantle,Perth, Adelaide, Cairnes, Brisbane, and the town where they culture peals, its on the North west coast but I cant recall the name)
Once in Cairnes I think it was, we hired a seaplane and flew out to Green Island at the Great Barrier Reef for a day of snorkling.
An amazing day

I've lived here for nearly forty years and you've seen more of the place than me.

I think the name you were looking for is Broome.

The ones that circumnavigate around Australia take almost a month. But they only seem to be available infrequently.

What would be nice is to take one that repositions from the west coast of the US. Maybe that's a cruise to consider when our girl is through with high school and off to college, assuming we can afford both.

Lets hope that all cruise lines start introducing more and more cruises with different itineries. There are already a few new ones in our area - leaving from Fremantle and going up the west coast then around Christmas Island and Indonesia then back to Freo. A friend of mine is Bali mad. Goes there every year without fail. She scared of cruising for some reason but I think I've nearly convinced her

She once told me if I can find a cruise that includes Bali she will go but she wants to do one of those short cruises first (two or three days only) to make sure she will cope with being on a ship.

I don't like Bali - its way too humid for me and another girlfriends father was in Paddys Bar when the bomb went off. He was very close to death and will never completely recover so its a bit scary to go there again. But thats the compromise I've made with her. So hopefully sometime next year we'll go. I love cruising so much it'd take an awful lot to put me off.
