Discounted staterooms for Platinum + on RCL

How exactly does that work, is it only at booking time, or if already booked and your category comes up as discount for Platinum+ can you request the discount?

I ask because we are booking two cruises soon both that sail next year (Jan and August). The second will be our first Platinum cruise so we will be booking at status of less than Platinum. We plan on using a local travel agent but it will be a first time so, what else can I say but you are all trusted more right now .

    Thanks!

The discounts for Platinum (and above) on Royal only apply to balcony or suite staterooms. The discount can be applied at any time after you achieve that status. Just have your TA call Royal and have the discount applied.

The downside to the balcony discount is that it cannot be combined with any other discount .. or pretty much so.

Its $100 off the cabin on a 7 day (less on shorter cruises), not per person, and now you get a $25 bonus if its booked and applied more than 6 months before the cruise.

Iv found pretty much that until you hit diamond, the balcony discount isnt worth getting excited about. At diamond it is $200 off so then it is for sure better than other promos.

For instance I got a C&A coupon for $75 off and it was combinable with a June promo for $100 OBC which beats the $100 balcony discount.

Thanks for the replies and clearing it up. I was under the impression that it was deals exclusive to higher tiers and could be anything, not a flat rate.

    Thanks again.
