Will I enjoy another cruise line

I have only cruised on NCL and really enjoy the laid back attitude and the ability to do my own thing. I have seen a couple of itineraries with Celebrity that I really like. I am wondering if I will enjoy the more formal atmosphere that I hear that Celebrity has. I would be really interested to hear the thoughts of others. I know that I need to try another cruise line just for the experience.

Tom we are about to cruise with our seventh cruise line, also we have cruised eight times with NCL. We too like the laid back attitude of NCL, but we find it nice for a change to go to a more formal cruise line.

Have never cruised with Celebrity just P&O, Costa, MSC, Hurtigruten, Fred Olson, NCL and booked our next cruise with Cunard.

Quite sure you would be happy on any other cruise lines, Celebrity and other cruise lines get really rave notices on here.

Thanks Norman, kind of thought that might be the type of answer I would get, looking forward to what others might have to say.

We've been on 41 cruises including 4 on NCL and 4 on Celebrity. Between the two, there's no comparison; Celebrity is much better by far.

First, I don't consider Celebrity to be any more formal than NCL, except on formal nights. I wear the exact same clothes on both and do the exact same things on both. Celebrity does attract an older crowd and they like to get dressed up more than younger folks. But they also love and appreciate the ships, food, and the service, which is better than NCL. We get the laid-back atmosphere on Celebrity because it is a more sedate environment. And that's what we like. So the only time we consider Celebrity to be more formal than NCL is on formal nights. Yes, you will see alot of guys wearing suits or sport coats to dinner on non-formal nights, but that's their choice - they like to get dressed up. Doesn't mean we have to and doesn't mean it's more formal - just means it has people that like to dress up.

The food on Celebrity is far superior to that on NCL. Of course there are those who will disagree with me, but that's just my opinion after having been on both of them. Then again, I'm 61, so what I like, you may not like.

If you want the 'freestyle' dining experience, you can get that on Celebrity as well. And as for 'formal' nights, as long as you wear a jacket and/or tie, you'll be fine. I just wore a tie on our Celebrity Eclipse cruise in May and I had no problem. I wrote a review on that cruise that you might like to read. But if you don't want to do formal night, they have some of the best specialty restaurants we've ever visited.

Comparing NCL to Celebrity is like comparing beer and champagne; they both offer a bubbling experience, but they are completely different.

So give it a try - you may find you like it.

I've cruised 16 times since 2004 and loved everyone of them. I've been on Carnival(4), NCL(3),Princess(2), Costa, MSC, Azamara, Royal Caribbean & later this year, we will be trying Holland America for the first time. I always look forward to trying a new cruise line.

Hi I have sailed with 13 cruise lines (45 cruises in total and rising) from the "cheap and cheerful" lines to the 6* luxury vessels and in truth I enjoyed them all albeit some more than others. In my view variety is the spice of life. How does anybody know they have a favourite cruise line without have comparisions with others? My advice would be to try as many cruise lines as possible IMO you will probalby enjoy all of them. You will then be in a much better position to pick a line which appeals to your tastes.

In my experience other than the suite and time two nights out of seven you probably will not see a whole lot of difference.
