I am trying to find out what our luggage fees will be when flying from Columbia, SC to LAX on Delta and United.

From the Delta web site: LINK

Checked baggage must weigh 50 lbs. (23 kg) or less and its combined length, width and height must measure 62 inches (158 linear cm) or less. If your bag exceeds these weight or size limits, please review the Additional, Overweight, and Oversized Baggage section. You may also carry on one bag and one small personal item at no charge. Visit our Carry-on Baggage section for more information. More restrictive baggage rules apply on some flights operated by our Codeshare partners. Please refer to our Codeshare Partners page for information on a specific carrier's baggage policy.

For travel within or between the United States and Canada, U.S. Virgin Islands or Puerto Rico:
    • First checked bag: $25 USD/CAD*
    • Second checked bag: $35 USD/CAD*

    From United web site: LINK

    First bag
    25.00 USD
    Second bag
    35.00 USD

Thanks Char. We are going to have to pack light. We are used to driving down to Ft. Lauderdale and we can take anything we want. At least Princess has laundry rooms, so that will help.

Angry Baggage fees on United and Delta

I remember when I went to Wyoming, United charged me $11 for my luggage. But for the flight back, they charged me $15. Why? I did not have a computer at Yellowstone and could only check my bag at the airport. I felt like United punished me for not having an Internet connection at a national park.

Of course, the only reason I flew on United was the Jackson Hole airport is so small Southwest does not fly there. The same is true for Gainesville airport, where Delta charges $25 per bag.
