We had gale force winds on our Hawaiian cruise last December during the time we were still in Hawaiian waters. So even then, it wasn't smooth seas. As I said, I wouldn't recommend the Hawaiian itinerary unless you know that either you aren't affected (my hubby and teen don't get motion sickness at all) or you have a reliable remedy (ginger is my friend).

Another itinerary that surprises many is the Mexican Rivera. You cross that same current the last sea day so it can be pretty rock and rolling at that time.

I think the smoothest cruise I've been on is my Alaskan one. Our cabin was far forward (only one cabin in front of us) and I was fine (and I'm the type who gets motion sickness pretty easily).

It has been almost a decade since I was in Jax and 30 years since I lived there full time. Interesting city back then still trying to become a big city while fighting the rural south Georgia roots.

I can say it was flat, really flat, with very few real trees except for pine trees everywhere. There were some nice areas and I always liked the riverwalk. Now most of the upscale living has moved to the beaches.
