Thread: Help!!! - 2011 WAVE Season

I am doing a school project on the cruise industry and am trying to figure out how this WAVE season is going to be. To any travel agents out there, anything you can tell me about how this WAVE season is going for the cruise industry and how it compares to last year's WAVE season would be very helpful. I can use as many responses as possible. Thanks!!

When you ask how Wave season is going, I'm assuming you're like to know if sales are up or down compared to last year.

You need to understand that Wave season normally runs from January to March. And since it's only 5 days into this year's Wave season, it is just starting and really too early to know how it's going compared to last season. This question would be best asked in a couple of months.

I guess I just more would like to know everyone's outlook for this upcoming WAVE season then.

Well, based on preliminary feedback from clients, personally I'm seeing an increase in interest over last year. We'll have to wait and see, but we're hopeful this will be a better year than last.

Here in the UK - last year it took a few weeks into Jan to get going, however in 2011 its been busy from Jan 1 - hard to measure so far but so far so good - levels of enquiries are up 4-fold - bookings not so high but still an increase from 2010. Egypt troubles will impact us as we sell a lot of high-end Nile river cruises. Hope this helps!
