    princess cruises

    <!-- / neils box -->Hello,
    Are there any ta's that do lower prices for children.
    I phoned direct and was told that you only get the 3rd and 4th person discount.So the one I was looking at was £1519 for 2 adults and £1050 for a 9 year old and a 14month old baby which seemed an awful lot for a baby.
    Thanks for any help <!-- / message -->

    I am going to move this to the ask a TA a question. You may get more answers there.
    Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

    Unfortunately, the age of the person makes no difference, except on Disney. If you have two adults and two children or four adults, the price will be the same for the first two people in the cabin and reduced for the second two people in the same cabin irregardless as to the age. They have this mentality that 'you charge for a seat on a airplane no matter who sits on it.' Obviously, we all disagree with this because a young child, especially an infant, does not really cost them anything. And if they did offer a really reduced rate or even free cruise fare for those up to 2 years old, they would encourage more families to cruise.

    But hey, what do I know - they never ask my opinion.

    I know it's crazy.The infant won't use or eat anything.
    So £5138 for a 10 day cruise for a family of 4. 2 people in cabin £2950
    You'd think at least half price for kids and a nominal fee for an infant as the cabin might only be used by 2 people anyway.
    Rant over.

    Occasionally, you'll see a 3rd/4th rate special being offered - mainly by Carnival and Costa, that will offer substantial savings. Just don't see them offered on Princess.

    MSC Cruises goes one better than Carnival, and Costa does too sometimes, kids 17 years and younger sail free. They pay only the taxes, and in some cases on MSC, kids 12 and older pay the NCF and taxes.

    MD11F that sounds good but unfortunately we have to book with either princess or p&o as we are booking through a promotion at work and my son and his family were thinking of joining us but I think it will be too much for them as they have 3 children to pay for.
    Thanks for your onfo

    We have never gotten an "infant rate" on our Carnival or Princess cruises. But I believe we've always have gotten a third person rate for our child (including for the latest booking which is during the holidays when demand is higher).

    Our daughter was 23 months of age on her first cruise (a month shy of being able to be in Camp Carnival), and even though one would think because she wouldn't take up as much room or eat five-course meals at every seating, that her cruise should cost next to nothing, we have found that she was well attended to. Our cabin steward dealt with her diapers/pullups, the wait staff were always quick to fill up her sippy cup with milk, bring the high chair, give her the kids' menu with crayons, etc. They would swoop her up whenever doing one of those waiter dances. She went to the shows (we sat in back the first time or two just in case we needed a quick exit, but it turns out she loves the shows). We never tipped less for her, ever.
