Thread: If the price goes down...

If the price goes down on your cabin after final payment has been made, do all the cruise lines give you a refund of sorts? If you catch it I mean.

I suspect that this is a "touchy" subject! When I was a travel agent (many years ago!), this kind of thing was a nightmare, because it inevitably meant acrimonious exchanges between the cruise line and the client!

The situation hasn't ever happened to me in my personal travels, but it is a matter worth keeping track of!

Ship board credit has been known to happen more frequently than back to the credit card.. but most will compensate some way.

Others can correct me on this ... but I've found to be true after final payment:

If the new price is for New Bookings Only Promo , you get nothing.

If the price reduction is the new price on the cruise line site, they will probably offer you an up-grade. Don't count on the OBC which you may or may not get.

Note: Up until Final Payment ... No Problem!

I didnt mean to be elusive..but there area lot of factors envolved.. which line we are talking about .. whether or not you worked with a TA or self book..who you get on the phone when you call .

Before I became a TA i got it taken care for our personal bookings every time (3) I have only had to do it once since becoming a TA I succeeded and got ship board credit for my client... BUT it is true I had to jump through hoops .. but i got it done.. I think sometimes it boils down to just asking the right questions ..in the right manner.....I didnt mean to give an elusive answer .. its just ...it really does depend on a lot of factors

So I guess the answer is it depends?

The only way to find out is Call your TA.... they will give you the answer......

I have heard rumors... that there are some TA's who hate reduce the price after final payment only because you are recalling some of their commissions.. hopefully you have a good TA that keeps YOU in mind..and knows they are only in business because you are their client..

I'm wondering now why aren't you ta's all held to the same rules? OR aren't there any?

And a further question. If the price does go down, is it a real big hassle for you?
The cruise line will honor it, right?
