I have many questions - we are planning out frist cruise next summer, Alaska. We are tenatively planning NCL Lines - The Star, RT Seattle. Has anyone taken this cruise? I would like a balcony room and wondering if it is worth the extra $300 for an aft balcony or should we go with a mid ship suite w/balcony for the same price which seems quite a bit larger. I guess what I need to know is will we miss anything if we do not have an aft cabin? Also, is everything you purchase on board put into an account that id paid at the end of the cruise? We are considering the last week in August - weather OK then? What do you consider a MUST for shore excursions - we are mostly into sighseeing, not thrill seeking or fishing and on a budget. What do the letters on the on-line info for cabins stand for (example: BA, BC, etc.)? Is higher the deck the better? Also if smoking on the balcony (we smoke) will the smoke travel to the next balcony or is it safe to do this and not get neighbors ticked off?
