    one way flights

I have always wanted to do a repositioning cruise across the Atlantic but when I price out the airfare it is absolutely ridiculous what they charge for a one way ticket. I guess one option would be to book two trans Atlantic Cruises one in the spring going to Europe and then one in the fall coming back. Any thoughts or ideas

depending on the Transatlantic voyage you want to consider..you do have the option of buying a round trip ticket (less expensive by thousands in some instances).. and just don't use the portion of the flight you don't need

As was stated, often it's cheaper to buy a round-trip ticket and just not use the return portion. I just bought a round-trip ticket for a client doing a repositioning cruise to Rome. The one-way ticket was more than double the price of a round-trip. Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, but that's the way it is.

The only other choice is to buy an open-ended ticket so you can use the other portion whenever you want, but this is often not a cheap proposition. And sometimes, the cruise line will offer a one-way fare that's not too overpriced, but usually not as good as just buying a round-trip ticket.

Thanks for the info but I have read on the internet if the airlines suspect you are throwing away a ticket that they can take away your points and do other nasty stuff

I took a flight to Beijing , cruised to Vancouver and took another back to Montreal. I was very pleased with the prices. Maybe it was because it was like a return but from a different airport that the price was reasonable. Then again I did not check the two way price.

You will usually find the lowest fares directly from the airlines website. Many offer web only rates. You can use the big online search sites to determine what flights are best for you. There are a few sites that specialize in one-way flights. Especially for cruises. One site is Global Marine Travel.

If you want to save money and do not really care about connecting flights or the flight times, there are several ways to get really cheap airfare to Europe. Use a site like Fare Compare and find the cheapest flights FROM the city in Europe. Also remember that Europe is rather small and another city close by maybe cheaper.

Some airlines charge one half the round trip fare for a one-way ticket. AerLingus is one of those. It also offers some of the cheapest flights to Europe. Once in Europe it is easy to get around, either by train or cheap regional flights

My wife and I shall be voyaging next year. We disembark in New York. Flhing home to Sydney, Australia, is a disproportinate cost. May I seek some solace or advice, or both, hopefully.

If they fly to your area check Icelandic air and Air Berlin. You may have to fly into a city close to your home. We are using Icelandic air on a flight to London and the price was 1/2 a round trip.
