    Smile Disembarkation

    Hi all,

I wonder if anyone can help! We are booked for the NCL cruise on the Norwegian Jade in August - This is our very first cruise. Although I have one hundred and one questions going around my empty head at the moment the most pressing one seems to be about disembarkation.

Our ship arrives back at Southampton at 5.00 am, but I have no idea about when we will leave the ship, try as I might I can't seem to find the answer anywhere. Can anyone help?? We are guessing around 8.00 am but would love to know for sure so that we can arrange for our taxi to be there waiting for us.

    Any help would be appreciated!!

    Welcome to CLF!

The key to this is to remain flexible. Getting thousands of people and their luggage off-ship is a somewhat lengthy process. Different cruise lines [and perhaps even different ships in the same line] have worked out different ways to go about it.

If you're going to carry all your luggage off yourself, you'll normally hit the dock sooner than those who make use of ship's services. The difference is often about an hour.

You might get a pretty good fix on this through your taxi provider. These folks have lots of experience and can usually suggest a good time for pick-up.

    Regards,

    Jim

The answer is.... It depends. The time the ship arrives is always different from the time you can disembark from the ship. Generally the ship has to be cleared by immigration before anyone can get off the ship. If someone screws up, this can lengthen the process by several hours but this is usually the exception rather than the rule.

I am not sure how NCL does their disembarkation but most lines give people numbers assigning them to groups. It is best to go with the flow but if you have a connection to make you can request to be put in an early group.

Welcome to our friendly cruise community!

I suggest that you ask your question on the NCL forum as well as here. You might get some first hand info from the NCL cruisers. Here is the link --> Norwegian Cruise Line

As other mentioned it all depends on when the ship is cleared.
On a recent cruise with another line, we arrived in port at 5 am and first passengers got off
    at 7.
NCL has self-disembarkation, so you can leave when you want if you want to carry out your own luggage.

One more week to go - I have been surprised at how many people we know who have been on cruises. Luckily they have had very memorable times for all the good reasons. Truly, I can't wait!!
