Obviously, I'm a little prejudice on the matter - but it's always best to work with a reputable travel agent - they'll look out for you, provide the most up-to-date information, and get you the best pricing.

But if you want to do some research for yourself, there are many online travel sites that provide that type of information.

It seems the repo cruises are at two times a year: April/May and September. That might narrow your search a bit.

Thanks Smitty , and Pete and Chick

I had tried a site like Vacations To Go , but I didn't see Repositioning in their Drop Down Menu. I will look at VTG. I like to look around a bit myself before contacting a TA.

    Tony,

I've taken a couple of repo cruises. I found them under "repositiong" as a selection on the cruiseline website. I also like to figure out what I want to do before I call a travel agent. I usually know what cruise and what cabin I want before I call a TA. I like to think I'm a pretty easy client for TA's.

The repo cruises I've taken are Pacific Coast and Trans-Atlantic. I recently saw a TA for $499 for an inside cabin and I think it was for 12 nights. They are usually pretty good bargins. Though sometimes the airfare can be a bit high.

The only bad cruise is the one I'm not on.

    Thanks Barb,
I think I tried a couple of cruiseline websites and couldn't find repositioning. Also tried Vacations to go and couldn't find it in the drop down menu . I'll try a different cruise line.

Princess let's you search for repros. Received a email from Holland America for some nice repro going up the west coast for Alaska. Almost booked one to get me there for my Alaska cruise out of Vancouver but since I had already booked air decided I couldn't be that wastefull.

As has been stated already, most of the repo cruises take place in the Spring and Fall when cruise lines are moving ships from the Caribbean to Alaska or Europe, or vice versa. If you notice, there are no ships doing the Caribbean during the Summer from Holland, Princess, or Celebrity because they move all of their ships. Royal Caribbean, Carnival, and NCL move some of their ships.

If you're using VTG to look for these type of cruises, under Region you can select Repositioning to do some research. Good site for research, but I recommend booking with an agent and not through their website.

    Thanks Pete,
I thought I had done that on VTG and couldn't find it. I will have another go. For sure I would eventually book through a TA.
