Not a lot of choices in Bayonne but there are a ton of hotels in the Newark Airport area.
You can also try Jersey City. I think they have a Hyatt in their business district.

If you want to spend a couple of days, you are a short hop away from Manhattan. You could always stay there and enjoy the city before getting on your cruise.

thanks for that, we will be spending a coupple of nights in nyc after our cruise. we will only arrive in newark late afternoon and it will seem like 10 at night to us so we are looking for a hotel that is possibly close to a resaurant or bar for a few drinks and then bed. following day nice breakfast then onto the ship, any suggestions

If you are getting in pretty late, the Sheraton is a nice hotel with a restaurant and a bar. They have free shuttle service to and from the airport.

Absollutely nothing to do outside of the hotel but I think they have a pool and fitness center should you be so inclined.

Great beds by the way. About 20 minutes from the Bayonees cruise pier.

What cruise line are you taking from NYC? Are you flying into Newark, LaGuardia or JFK?

This will help to determine the hotel that is best suited to your needs.

My Royal Caribbean book suggests the Hilton Newark Penn Station, approx. 15 minutes from the port but I personally have never stayed there.
