    Talking September Cruise

I have a question. What is the best cruise to go on in September for a honeymoon? With a budget of 3000-3200 with airfare from Detroit? And is it not smart to go to the caribeen in September

Well I am a Princess lover but won't push you on Princess. I sail every year in October, awesone deals cause it is hurricane season. The trick here is to sail for the ship, ocean, ANY ports, you will get an itinerary but if there is a hurricane out there where you were supposed to go, the ship will go away from the hurricane with new ports, we do the caribbean. With that budget you could get a nice aft balcony cabin, even a mini suite with money left over Oh Yes, any ship is great for a honeymoon
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

You don't mention your age group. Sue is right, you can get a great deal on a Caribbean cruise during September.

If you are going the first couple of weeks of September, a late season Alaska, seven night is an option.

You also have five night Bermuda or nine night Canada New England during September. Both of these options are Royal Caribbean from New Jersey.

This just give you a few of the options.

Just remember that September IS during Hurricane season, so it's essential to plan to arrive at your port of departure a day early!

A cruise is great for a honeymoon, we took one for ours way back in 1978.

We have sailed in September several time and as mentioned it is wise to plan to arrive in Florida a day early. If you are concerned about hurricanes you could opt to cruise out of Los Angeles to Mexico or, as mentioned, to Alaska.

What ever option you chose, cruising is great.

We sail in September alot because not only is it our anniversary, but we get the best rates of the year during that time. And yes, it is hurricane season, but that's why we always take out the travel insurance just to be on the safe side. You also have to be flexible as the itinerary can change due to bad weather. But, as I said, if price is a major consideration, it's tough to beat the pricing in September.

During that month, we've been to the Caribbean several times, Alaska, and Canada. All offer some unique itineraries, have great pricing, and are wonderful places to visit at that time of year.

As for which cruise line and which itinerary, you really need to do your homework so you can decide which one is best for you. Everyone has their opinions and, as we all know, opinions are like bellybuttons - everyone has one. But since what one person likes another will dislike, best advice is don't listen to recommendations. You need to find what's best for you and the fun part is looking at them all to find the right one. Ask questions, read reviews, and decide the right cruise for you.

    WELCOME !! and CONGRATULATIONS !!

like the others have said, bottom line is the best advise is your own. what we did is go to a travel agent and got all the books on all the diff cruiselines, go thru them, look at the iteniraries, prices etc. then eliminate till you get what or close to what you both think would like. spread them out on living room floor, w/pen/paper and just elliminated one by one till finally got the best we wanted. decide on how many sea days you want, how big of a ship/passenger wise, & check out the ships & cabins of each and what is on them & offer etc. then go online & look at ships & cruise forums etc too.
do your homework, like you are doing for your wedding.

as for cruising in sept, again is a personal choice. I wouldn't, not cause of port changes etc but I get seasick easily and don't want to experience it again. so would worry about the waters being very rough. even for a big ship. will never do a transatlantic for same reason. ha. BUT would love to take advantage of the fabulous fares then.

good luck and make sure you keep us posted.
Carnival Victory April 22,2012. so excited to be cruising again.

No, there are no hurricanes over by the Mexican Riveria. On the other hand there are Typhoons! Pretty much same thing, but in the Pacific instead of the Atlantic.

I've taken most of my cruises in September - November time period simply due to the prices. This last fall was the first time we've had a problem. We were supposed to go to Grand Turk, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten, but Hurricane Omar had different ideas. We ended up going to Grand Turk, but then went to Grand Cayman and Ocho Rios instead. I was a little disappointed as St. Maarten is one of the few Caribbean islands I haven't been to yet, but now I have an excuse for another cruise.
