Good morning,
I wanted to know if it is possible to make a deposit for a future cruise in my local currency (EUR or CHF) or if only possible in $US. I heard that the deposit is fully refundable whitin 2 or 4 years. Does anyone know if (in case I will not travel) they will refund in Eur or US$ and at which exchange rate? The same exchange rate applied at the time of deposit or at another one?

It would be helpful to our travel agents if they knew which cruise line are you asking about since the rules may not be the same for all cruise lines.

I assume you asking about booking a future cruise while onboard rather than making a deposit to a travel agent....is this correct?

If you made a deposit onboard during your last cruise, they would have explained the cancellation and refund policies regarding your deposit. They would have provided an invoice or receipt for the payment. Please review this document for the refund information. Regarding the rate of exchange, this will almost always be based upon what the current rate is at the time of the transactions. This can change at any time and can vary on any given day. yes that's correct I am talking about booking a future cruise while onboard. I was interested in Costa Crociere.

unfortunately I have never bought a future cruise onboard so I don't have any invoice. I wanted to know what is the exchange rate they apply in case of a refund. How can I secure the fluctuation of the EUR against the US$?

Unfortunately, I know of no way to insure that the exchange rate would be equal to the rate that was used at the time of purchase. It could go either way.

If they secure the exchange rate, at least you get what you paid. If they use the exchange rate of the day, of course this could go either way. Thanks anyway.
