Getting from the airport to the port

I have a question on transfers... there are 6 of us flying into Tampa and cruising out of the Tampa port. Transfer fee is $18 each way (or $36 roundtrip) for each person. It looks like the airport is less than 7 miles from the port. Would most people buy the transfers, or would you take a cab (I'm thinking this would be cheaper??).

    Opinions??

    Thanks!!

Take a cab for sure! It would be quicker, cheaper and more comfortable.....About $25 from the airport to the cruise port.

Here is the taxi info from the Tampa Airport web site--> TPA | Ground Transportation | Taxi Services

I agree with Char - take a taxi (van). Definitely cheaper, quicker, and easier!

If you take the transfers, you have to wait for them to fill the van and you'll leave on their schedule, not yours. Sometimes, depending on the time you get to the shuttle, you could end up waiting up to an hour.

There are always taxis at the airport and at the cruise pier ready to take you, so it's never a problem of getting one and leaving right away. And there's always a cab driver with a van or suv to handle a party of 6 so you don't have to take two taxis.

Thanks guys!! I was thinking of having transfers booked for at least on the way back, but after reading your comments a cab is definitely the way to go!! THANK YOU THANK YOU!! Any suggestion on hotels in that area for the night before? We don't want anything fancy or expensive, just someplace to sleep! :-)

We booked our airfare yesterday!! Now it is starting to seem more real!! 6 MONTHS FROM TODAY!!!! I AM SO EXCITED!!!!

Okay, different port. We need to get four of us from the Long Beach Cruise Terminal to Orange County airport.(John Wayne Airport) So far it looks like Supershuttle is the way to go. But I would like to get a limo is there is a good deal anywhere. Does anyone know??
