I just got an e-mail offer for an RCI cruise next year for a balcony. I went to RCI's site to compare prices and they say balcony is "NA"; I checked several other sites and they don't indicate balconies either (I know the ship has them... I checked the deck plan). This seems strange. Can anyone enlighten me?

On the Sovereign Class ships the only balcony cabins available are Junior suites or above. If this is what you are looking at, that could explain the balcony cabins showing N/A.
What ship are you looking at?

It's Jewel of the Sea and since the cruise isn't until Sept. '08 I didn't think they could be sold out or blocked. I haven't been on a Royal Caribbean cruise yet so I'm not familiar with their ships.

That's a real puzzler.

One other remote possibility is that they are adjusting the fares.
I have seen it happen and while that is in progress, they will show the
affected space or even sailing as being unavailable.
Maybe try back in a day or two or give them a call and say "Whassup?"

It does depend on the sailing as well....I know there were minimal cabins (balcony and suites) on the Jewel sailing from Southampton to Boston in September of 08.

It is not entirely impossible ....but I would, like Reggie said...check with RCI...or maybe a travel agent has blocked space...

There is a lot of blocked space on that TA to Boston. I have been getting emails from more that one agency with blocked space.

I checked on that TA sailing on the Jewel this morning. It does show no balconies available. I know that there is a lot of blocked space and it you call customer service at RCL you may be able to get some info.

That space was definitely eaten up by Travel Agencies...I have group space on that sailing...all aft balconies...I haven't checked, but I believe, RCI took back what I didn't sell...due to the high demand...
