Geez, I wouldn't even know where to begin.

    I'll give it a shot.

    Inside or outside sales.
Some agents actually work in an office and you can walk in and take care of business right there, that's inside sales. Outside sales is an agent that works for a similiar company but does business at his home, at the clients home or over the phone or internet.
Then there are the internet agencies that actually have no office and only do business over the internet or sometimes by phone also. Many of these are nothing more than order takers and can provide little or no assistance with your booking.
At times and with certain cruise companies they can provide a better up front price, but not always a better value. They often have fees for booking, changing a reservation and cancellation fees over and above that charged by the cruise line or other supplier. So in the long run can cost more. They also are not able to assist in helping the client to find the best fit for them. Often many of the order takers have never even used the services they are selling.

    Well, that's a start.

Good start Reggie...lol...I saw the thread...but wasn't sure how to answer...differences...geeesh...some are women and some are men, lol.

And...again...I agree with you...the larger internet places are order takers, data entry and have little to no experience or travel training. You more than likely won't speak to the same person when you call back with questions...

Just adding...the agents within a B&M have limited hours...usually, anyway...

The independents tend to work from their home and make themselves available at more client friendly hours...
