Need some cash while on a cruise?
Here's a tip that many don't know about.
Instead of going to the ATM, go to the casino cashier and take out what you want. It will be put on your onboard account and on your charge card
as an ordinary purchase, not as a cash advance. Some of the cruise lines are charging a fee for this now, but not RCCL or Celebrity as of yet.
Check out the policies of your cruise line and possibly get a deal.
I think you can take out as much as $1,000 or $2,000 per day.
You also get to build points on your reward card at the same time.

HAL has a 3% (I think) surcharge for doing this so it is best to ask if there is a charge before doing it...

As I said, check the individual cruise line policies.
Even with the surcharge, it may be cheaper than
the ATM. Also check if it is treated as a cash advance
or a regular purchase.
Most likely, if HAL charges, then the other lines in
the Carnival family also charge.:thumbsdow

Purser's Desk
When I have sailed, I brought Traveller's cheques. Before I headed ashore for the day, I would go to the Purser's desk and they would cash my cheques no problem. There was no charge.

We did this last year on Splendour. Sure was handy! We don't take travelers' checks and this was perfect for us.
