On a serious note, a Taxi driver told us it was against the law to bring food of any kind from another country to Jamica, water and soda's were ok, but he said you would surly miss the ship because you would be jailed until the next day til you saw a Judge. They take it very seriously. We were warned on the ship not to do it before we ported eeeks!

Debbie - i've heard a lot of people say this, but i've never seen the cruise line ever check for food and/or confiscate food taken off the ship. But then again I've never sailed to Jamaica either. Did they do this there?

No, they didnt search, they just told us not to do it, if you do its not their problem, also I 'm not positive but I think I remember them not even having room service that day till after all aboard, will have to ask DH to be sure LOL

We left port and for 1 hour after we left port we kept hearing them call for 6 pax, I dont think they made it back on the ship eeeks not sure why but we all wondered!

When we went to Russia, we took some fruit from the Solarium and kept it in our fridge. We brought the fruite with us in a backpack for snacks throughout the day...Risky? Yes? Worth it? Yes...

I have never seen a notice in the ship's newsletter warning not to take food off the ship. I usually try to pack a Balance or Power bar in my purse just in case I need a snack. I can see the opposite happening if you going to return to California. The officials there are really strict because of the medfly problem. On an one-day cruise we took years ago, bf (now hubby) had packed a little lunch for us. But there was a banana or apple leftover. He forgot about it and when we returned to San Diego, his small cooler was checked and the fruit confisciated. Fortunately, they believed he forgot.
