me and my husband going on a cruise with a group to alaska next year and 650.00 SOMETHING HOW MUCH DOWN PAYMENT IS IS IT HALF OR SOMETHING . oop sorry the caps went on

A little clarification please.
Are you saying that the deposit is $650 for each of you or $650 total for both of you?
Which cruise line?
What kind of group is it? Sometimes groups have different rules than just a regular cruise.

Generally, since I don't know the line, etc., the downpayment is based on how many days. For instance a cruise on Royal Caribbean is $250 ($500 per cabin) for a 7 night cruise and $450 ($900 per cabin) for a 10+ day cruise.

You know I just see now that it is a group cruise. When I do a group I usually am asked to make a presentation to a few key members and anyone interested in the cruise. I then explain the cruise line, the ports and take questions from the audience. This should have been covered. Plus I give out flyers which would have had that information on it. It would have the cost of insurance, explanation of insurance, the cabin deposit - just about everything. If your group leader or travel agent is that thorough you need to tell them that they have to get on the stick.

You definitely need to talk to the group leader or the agent. Deposits can be different for different cruise lines, length of cruise, and any specials they may have gotten.

For example, we had a special last week whereby the deposit was cut in half. With Royal Caribbean, we've had groups where the deposit was only $25.

So there's alot of variables concerning deposits and none of us can provide you a definitive answer since we don't know any of the specifics. As I said, you really have to talk to your group leader or the agent in charge of the group. And if they don't have an agent, they really should, otherwise the cruise line will take advantage of the situation and it could end up costing everyone alot more money.

Groups should always be booked with an agent.

Get in touch with the person doing the group. They will tell you what the amount of the deposit is that you have to pay to book the cruise
