Tornadoes have been just awful this year . . . more again yesterday -

AMEN!! We had tornado sirens go off twice yesterday! Officially at the airport, they only recorded 0.4 inches of rain, but just across the Mississippi, one area had 3.5 inches of rain in less than an hour.

Statement as of 7:01 PM EDT on June 17, 2008

The National Weather Service in Miami has issued a

* Tornado Warning for...
central Broward County in South Florida.

* Until 730 PM EDT

* at 700 PM EDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a
severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado near
intersection Alligator alley and Miami canal... moving east at 13
mph.

This storm is also capable of producing damaging winds in excess of
60 mph.

* The tornado will be near...
intersection Alligator alley and Miami canal...
mile marker 30 on Alligator alley...
and surrounding communities.

If you are near the path of a tornado... seek shelter in a sturdy
building on the lowest floor... away from outside walls and windows.
Get under a workbench or other piece of sturdy furniture. Use
blankets or pillows to cover your body and stay away from windows.

If you are caught outside... seek shelter in a nearby reinforced
building. As a last resort... seek shelter in a culvert... ditch or low
spot and cover your head with your hands.

Do not use your car to try to outrun a tornado. Cars are easily
tossed around by tornado winds. If you are caught in the path of a
tornado... leave the car and go to a strong building. If no safe
structure is nearby... seek shelter in a ditch or low spot and cover
your head.

Yikes, the Ally is not a place to see a tornado, no where to go, hope that is close to the city where they can pull off!!

The National Weather Service in League City has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
eastern Harris County in southeast Texas...

* until 700 PM CDT

* at 610 PM CDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
a severe thunderstorm capable of producing damaging winds in
excess of 60 mph. This storm was located between Aldine and
Sheldon... moving southeast at 15 mph.

* Locations in the Severe Thunderstorm Warning include but are not
limited to hobby Airport... South Houston... Pasadena... La Porte...
Jacinto City... Highlands... Galena Park... Deer Park... Cloverleaf and
Channelview.

Strong winds may knock down trees and power lines or damage
buildings. Take cover now!

I-4 at the Florida Turnpike will shut down at 10 a.m. today to fix a sign after a tractor trailer slammed into it Thursday night.

RAMPS IN BOTH DIRECTIONS FROM I-4 TO THE TURNPIKE ARE BLOCKED OFF AND BOTH THE NORTH BOUND AND THE SOUTH BOUND TURNPIKE RAMP TO I-4 CLOSED...USE OBT TO EXIT AND ENTER THE TURNPIKE.
