Smile Cruising to Aruba - Best Beach to Go To

    Hello Everyone,

I am crusing to Aruba in October with my family. I wasn't too happy with the tours offered on Princess for that port, so I wanted to take a private cab to one of the local beaches. I have a 4 year old, so I wanted to make sure it's safe and that we will be able to catch a cab back to the cruise ship with no problems.

Has anyone had any experience with this? I usually dont' stray away from what the cruise ship is offering, but the prices have gone through the roof and they are not offering a simple "Fun and the Beach" tour.

    Any advice is appreciated.

    Thanks again.

Jen .... While I totally understand you don't want to take an excursion offered by the ship ... but but but the one to DePalm Island would be great for your four year old. There's a children's play area, a water park, and the little beach on that side of the island is very shallow. On the other side all you have to do is walk down some stairs to get into the water where there are Blue Parrot Fish. Do take into consideration that ALL of the food and beverages as well as chairs are included so these would not be extra expenses. Very, Very safe there!

Try Baby Beach on the south end of the island. Very nice!

And no, you don't need to do any excursions, especially those offered by the cruise line. You can take a taxi, but it would be cheaper to just rent a car.

Jen I second Lulu on De Palm Island ! we took the tour thru Princess and it was terrific & we're not that fond of cruise tours. It would be a great place for your daughter, the water park is small but is good for little ones. Will still have some time after getting back to ship to wander in the town.
