Aruba - Rental Cars/Jeeps? - Cruise Line Fans: Cruise Reviews and Chat From Real Cruisers

We have a whole day in Aruba, and I thought it would be good to see some the island away from the main port in Oranjestad. Has anyone rented a car or jeep for the day there? Whci company would you recommend?

I can't remember the name of the company but there are lots of them right at the end of the pier. If you're planning a vehicle with an open top, make sure you take along a hat, sunscreen and lots of drinking water. Have fun!

You will enjoy the sites in Aruba, it is one of my favorite islands. I too, can not remember who we used, but I know that the prices were not bad at all. Enjoy your trip, take your camera, and wear your seat belts! You can also hire people to take you site seeing, but beware, they drive like maniacs lol.

I'm bumping this up, since more people have joined, and because I have other questions.

Should I have a reservation for a rental car in Aruba? Is it necessary? I should add that we are not morning people, so do the rental places run out, and about when if they do?

Also, about how much is a car for the day?

I saw this thread and wanted to comment. Renting a jeep in Aruba has been our most favorite thing we have ever done in port. If you ever get the chance - it is incredible! We ended up getting 2 for our group. This was 5 years ago - and we still talk about it! I would recommend driving out to the California lighthouse - and then start your off-roading adventure!!! you will go down over a huge (scary looking) hill onto a dirt road that cruises through the back section of the island right along the crashing waves. You will pass through the "fields" of rock sculptures that are supposed to induce fertility in those that create them. And then you will eventually come across this beautiful little yellow church that is perched up above the beach - with a little old woman selling ice cream out of a cart and a ton of little wild dogs laying around in the shadows of the church. From there you can hit the paved roads again and make your way around the island.

I would also highly recommend visiting Baby Beach! It's great for snorkelling - and very easy to access if you are driving yourself.

On bad days - my mind is in Aruba in my little white jeep.
