We only went to a beach in Aruba. No excursions. The beach we went to was Palm Beach. It was great. I recommend it.

Thanks, that can work also. Having never been before I don't know how "safe and civilized" some places are if you are not on escorted tours, I have a low tolerance for being hassled. Your recommendation is appreciated.

We bought the shore excursion aboard the ship and our tour went to the Natural Bridge, the Cal- something Rock Formations, California Lighthouse (very nice Italian Rest. there), and on the way back to the pier, the bus driver took us past the resorts on Palm Beach and another beach nearby(the name escapes me now). Palm Beach is among the best beaches I've bathed in. On the Friday we were there, a local radio station hosted a midday beach party, lots of music, it was great. There's a Desalination Plant on the island and a plant where ther process aloe vera into different products. The island has a desert- llke topography. The ship docks in the capital, Oranjastad, and downtown is across from the pier, which is where Carlos and Charlies is located. The bus terminal is here also and buses run every half hour. Taxis are very expensive. We paid $10 each way from the pier to Palm Beach, a 7 mile trip each way. We also did the Sunset Cocktail Catermaran cruise and I really enjoyed the Green Iguana drink. Be careful though, Aruba's rum is extremely strong. Both sides of my tongue had a stinging sensation for days after. You'll love Aruba. It's a very small island.
