Please correct me if I'm wrong since it's been several years since I've done this in Aruba. Jolly Pirates isn't a wild & crazy Party Boat. Fun ... but not OutOfHand in any way. Think remember stopping at two spots to snorkle -- one was the WWII sunken ship. A combination of VERY FUN with very good snorkeling ....
Jolly Pirates in Aruba is the one Lulu !! We had so much fun snorkeling at the 2 snorkel sights which were off of Palm Beach I believe. One snorkel sight was the German WWII ship that the Germans sunk rather than let the Allies get it. It's a wild experience to snorkel above it, the clarity was amazing.
I'd book the tour again if it's available the next time I return, it was a highlight of the trip!
OVER 40 (started young) Princess, Celebrity, RCCL, HAL, NCL, Costa, Disney, Carnival, Sitmar (Princess bought), and (a very long time ago) SS Bahama Star
It's strange how sometimes the shore excursions offered by the cruise line are similar while other times there is a dramatic difference.
The last time we were in Aruba, Princess offered a tour of the island on Harley Davidson motorcycles - cost was $355 for a 4-hour tour. I contacted the local Harley Dealer in Aruba and they offered the exact same tour for $155! (Price is per bike, not per person.) And when we went on the tour, there were two couples from the ship who paid the $355, while there were 3 other couples who were staying on the island - all of whom paid $155, which is what we paid. I know the cruise line has to make some money on the deal, but $200 profit?
Another time, we did the helicopter/dog sled excursion in Juneau. Holland America wanted $425 per person, while we booked it independently for $325 per person.
So my advice is always check around and see what kind of prices you can find - sometimes it pays to just do it with the cruise line while other times it's better to book independently.
