ARUBA - Report - "Sailaway Beach Cruise" -- Sail, Snorkel, & Beach!

Aruba - Report - "Sailaway Beach Cruise"

We've been on this once. It's offered by most mass market cruise lines (name of the excursion may be a bit different). Nice way to Sail, Snorkel, and Beach on one excursion.

Good Excursion - 5 hours with 2 snorkel stops and about 1 1/2 hours at the beach. (There was also lunch at the beach included but we didn't want to waste time eating when we could be in the water!)

The water in January at both snorkel stops and at the beach was very very warm!

From my seat I could hear the captain giving instructions to first time snorkelers. Not boring at all -- excellent instructions done in a very entertaining way!

The first stop was at a somewhat shallow reef (12 ft. or so). The water was calm and there were lots of fish -- EASY to snorkel or just play around in the water.

The second stop was at a WWII ship wreck. Here, the water was MUCH deeper and somewhat rough ... but, the ship wreck was easy to see because the water was so clear.

Palm Beach was pretty -- lots of luxury hotels. The water was fantastic and so very calm. We enjoyed just floating around until it was time to leave.

Thanks LuLu. Nice report! I am getting a bunch of ideas for our day in Aruba - the hard part will be deciding between them.

Sounds like another wonderful Aruban excursion, Lulu.

I can totally relate to you comment about not eating...
Eating is something I can do anytime, anywhere, even at home. But immersing my body in beautiful Caribbean water I can only do a few hours a year. No use wasting precious water time on such mundane pursuits as eating!

Really .... This is a great excursion for those who like water activities because you get to do a bit of EVERYTHING with one excursion.

Do you remember about how much of the time was actually allotted for snorkeling?

The scheduled time at each was 45 minutes. As you know, sometimes it can be a bit longer ....
