Interesting that this changed was make shortly after the incident there with the six American tourist.

Carnival is saying this was not the reason for the itinerary change ....

The article specifically mentions the Carnival Victory, and says the itinerary was needing to be updated.

Will the Carnival Freedom still be callilng there, though?

As you stated when you quoted from the article, this only affects the Carnival Victory's itinerary, Sheila.

Could be due to a lot of things. I would not be surprised if the tourist incident had something to do with the change of plans. I don't think that a "fresher" itinerary is a real reason.

The article that I read specifically said that the Carnival Freedom will continue to call at Antigua.

The Carnival Freedom will call in Antigua on the January 2, and 30, 2010 sailing, Feb 27, 2010, March 27, 2010 sailings and more from Ft Lauderdale, FL.
Only Carnival Victory will not call at Antigua.

The timing does seem suspicious. If that incident wasn't the reason, it may have been a good idea for Carnival to say so, IMO.

Personally, if the incident was the reason, they would have pulled all their vessels from Antigua. I'm not saying you're wrong, Patty and Neal. I understand why you came to the conclusion you came to.
I'd rather St Maarten or Tortola over Antigua, personally.
