That would be awesome!
We moved to Portland, Oregon about 4 months after Mt. Saint Helens exploded. We chartered a small plane and pilot and flew right into the crater and around the volcano. It was something you had to see to believe. We have wonderful pictures and video from our flight, but they do not begin to reveal the massive destruction.
When we were on a Southern Caribbean cruise on the Radiance of the Seas, we were on our balcony enjoying a wonderful breakfast. The captain took the ship to within a couple of miles of Monserrat. He then stopped the ship and did a 360 turn so everyone could see it. We looked at the volcano through our binoculars and it brought back memories of our Mt. Saint Helens trip.
If you get the opportunity to do something like this, I highly recommend it! After all, you may never get the chance to do it again and you never want to go through life saying, "I wish I would have...."
