Antigua

I am going to cruise here in 2006. I don't see much information about this island on the forum. Does anybody have a happy story about Antigua?

The most beautiful sunset I ever saw was walking back to the ship in Antigua. I will never forget it.

I didn't see much of anything at this port since I time was very limited. I have read that many people have raved about the beaches.

Light -

We'll be porting there this November. I'm sure we'll be coming home with a happy Antigua story, so stay tuned to CLF!

It's been at least a couple of years since I was in Antigua (pronounced An TEE ga). I remember taking a tour of the island to see Nelson's Dockyard (Admiral Horatio Nelson) and Shirley Heights. We also stopped at a beach where our tour included a lobster lunch and time to just relax on the beach.

Here's a website that might help answer some of your questions:

This is the only good picture I took while there:

I think Antigua was one of our favorites! The beaches are incredible - I don't think it matters which one (they have so many!)

We also took the excursion that went to Nelson's and the heights and a island tour that ended with the rest of the day at the beach. We enjoyed ourselves very much!

Did you do a ship's tour or one on your own?

We just got back. Loved Runaway Beach! Great for shelling. Lots of unbroken shells. Go early!

We were there last week.
Loved it.
Saw Nelson's dockyard and did a swim with the stingrays.
It was a really neat place. Would like to return.
