I grew up in Trinidad, and I've seen many Carnival celebrations, huge party,especially las lap. Jouvert starts it of with a parade of steel bands, revelers paint their bodies with oil and paint, scary face masks. Later in the afternoon, colorful costumes, and brass bands join the steel bands, playing calypso hits by Sparrow, Kitchener, Crazy, Shadow, Superblue, Arrow, Baron, Calypso Rose, and others. Trinidads Carnival was Feburary 28 & 29th 2006. It's always the Mon and Tues immediately before Ash Wednesday.
