What a cool video! Did you take that tour? We were planning a helicopter tour in Juneau (hubby said we can't go to Alaska without taking one), but I am much more drawn to the whales than landing on a bunch of dirty ice.The whales look so beautiful!

Do both! By the way, the helicopter tour is absolutely awesome! We flew over the ice fields and got a good look at where the glaciers started out and how they "flowed" down to the water. It was pristine where the helicopter landed. We walked around and looked down into the deep blue fissures. I would do it again in a heartbeat!
We have been on several whale watching tours. The very best one was in Icy Strait Point with a native fisherman. He could take 8 on his boat and we booked it with 3 other couples we were sailing with. The fishermen keep in touch with each other on the radio and when one sees a pod of whales or bears on the shore they broadcast it to the other fishermen out that day. We got in the middle of a pod of humpbacks and they were "talking" to each other (we listened on the microphone lowered into the water) and cavorting around breaching and having a grand time! There was a mother and her calf who were very noticeable! The calf kept breaching and making huge splashes! What an experience!
So you MUST do both!If not on this trip, on the next one! Alaska is a place I could visit every year. It's never the same...always an adventure waiting around the corner.
