Thread: Which port of embarkation did you use on your Alaska cruise?

For those who have cruise to Alaska before, which port of embarkation did you use for the cruise?

What did you think about the different ports?

Personally, I've used Vancouver and San Francisco.

I love Vancouver as an embarkation city.

For me, departing out of San Francisco was the worst bout of sea sickness I've ever experienced. I think there were high winds and rough waters the day we left. Half the people never showed up for dinner the first night. And the people who did show up, you could see them slowly leave one by one as the meal wore on because everyone was feeling the effects. The next morning, the line out of the infirmary was down the hallway from people suffering from sea sickness. Not fun!

Went out of Seattle. As we were going RT, it was between Seattle and Vancouver. We decided to stick with Princess (hubby wanted to try either the Diamond or the Sapphire because they were brand new). My third time in the city (a former bf moved there years ago) and the first time for hubby and girl. They loved the city. We kept going back to the Center (where the Needle is). The actual sailing was very smooth all the way. We did get lots of rain.
